Working Principles
Corrugator systems work by fluting flat fluting paper and bonding it to liner paper. The process consists of successive stages from softening the paper to producing single-faced corrugated board.
1. Preconditioning & Heating
Fluting paper is softened with steam and heat in preconditioners, so it takes shape without cracking as it passes through the corrugating rolls.
2. Fluting
The softened paper passes between counter-rotating corrugating rolls and takes on its flute form. Different flute types (B, C, E) are produced depending on the roll profile.
3. Glue Application
Starch-based adhesive is applied precisely to the flute tips.
4. Bonding (Pressing)
Liner paper from the preheater is pressed against the glued flutes, producing single-faced corrugated board.
The process runs continuously and stably at line speed; heat, pressure and tension control are the key parameters that determine product quality.
Key Features
- High Speed & Efficiency
Designed to run steadily at high production speeds, maximising line capacity and efficiency. - Continuous, Stable Production
Uninterrupted, balanced, stable production that reduces downtime and lifts line performance.
Precision Corrugating Roll Geometry
Corrugating rolls machined to tight tolerances create a homogeneous flute form that meets the standards. - Steady Heat & Steam Control
Preconditioning and heating units process the paper at optimum moisture and temperature, improving bonding quality. - Precise Glue System
Controlled glue application to the flute tips delivers strong bonding with low glue consumption. - Durable, Long-Life Build
Wear-resistant components suited to heavy production conditions deliver a long service life. - All Flute Types
Can be engineered to run different flute types to match production needs.
Applications
Corrugator systems are the core production group of every plant producing corrugated board and flute-based packaging, serving lines that make everything from single-faced board to multi-wall corrugated sheet.
Main application areas:
- Corrugated Board Plants
The core single facer group in single-, double- and triple-wall corrugated sheet production. - Box & Carton Factories
Producing the corrugated sheet raw material for shipping boxes, packaging cartons and transport containers. - Single-Faced Roll Production
Producing single-faced corrugated rolls for wrapping, cushioning and protective packaging. - Packaging Industry Plants
The first link in producing corrugated packaging used across a wide range from food to home appliances. - Recycled-Paper Packaging Production
Operating efficiently in plants producing corrugated board from test liner and recycled fluting papers.
